Plugging pretty pictures

The darlingest Magpie has posted two sets of photos of Baltimore in the snow. Go. Admire my brother's mad photography skills.

Seriously, he takes photos like that, and he still gets published as a writer before me? Damn overachieving socially deviant punk. . . .

Omniverse Timeline: Disclaimer

A (Not So) Brief History of The Omniverse ver. 2.0
By Benji The Vampire Confuser

My free time has never been able to keep up with my imagination, as seemingly a dozen stories crop up in my brain weekly (or more). I know now I'll never get half of them written, but I've never been satisfied with leaving a story unfinished. So I present to you, the readers, this compromise, a timeline of my stories, completed, uncompleted, and never even written. Also containing relevant canon info, and non-canon info (for the most part, all efforts have been made to keep my work as canon-friendly as possible). At several years old, this is, and probably always will be a work in progress. Feedback of any kind is appreciated.
And now let the Introduction/Disclaimer continue…

It's a(nother) snow day

  • Dec. 20th, 2009 at 9:06 AM
TJ's just called me and asked if I wanted to take a snow day.

Which, you know, saves me from calling them to tell 'em I wouldn't make it in. (The snow around my car is up to my knees -- the base of my car's frame only hits at maybe mid-shin. I'm not just being lazy!)

Every now and then, the company reminds me why I'm still working there after more than a year.

Static gaze.

  • Dec. 19th, 2009 at 9:31 PM
You're out of sight not out of mind
This feeling took me years to find
Even when you're far away
I can hear you every day
Our hands grasp the delicate prize
Now we enjoy the time of our lives

Your eyes know where it hurts
Your lips kiss me until I burst
Your static gaze watches me each day
And you smile at my silly ways
No one knows what's going on
They don't believe that we belong

It can only be you that holds the key
You know exactly what to do with me
My desires can't be bought in black and white
Only you make me feel secure inside
For I know you really love no one but me
And I smile because they think it's fantasy

It's a snow day

So far today I've accomplished cleaning the apartment, taking out the recycling, decorating my tiny tree, and wrapping Christmas presents.

Next up, starting on the stuffed totoro J requested for her friend's son.

It's been a quiet kinda day, yo. Fun with loads and loads of snow.

Snooooooooooooooow

It's snowing. My mom is convinced that it will do so enough that the federal government will be closed on Monday and there'll be a snow day (I'm not holding my breath). She's pretty sure I won't want to go to work on Sunday (see prior parenthetical, though, really, I pretty often don't want to go to work). She's really, really sure that the Christmas tree decorating at gma's will be canceled tomorrow (seems much more likely).

Either way, J and I had a lovely day tramping around downtown in the cold, today, hitting up the building museum (the parking garage exhibit was pretty cool), wandering through an open air craft market (we got crepes! Mmmmm), and checking out the revamped American History museum (there was a teensy floats exhibit, with a sixties float-making supply catalog that entertained us for quite awhile, and we had a Deep Discussion about the "Forgotten War" while admiring the new set up for the Star Spangled Banner), then we met up with Mom at Potbelly's for dinner before going to see the Washington Ballet's production of the Nutcracker at the Warner. It was tres cute, though I wasn't entirely certain about how well they did with replacing the Arabian dance with "Anacostia Warriors" and the Russians with "Frontiersmen". The cherry blossoms for the Waltz of the Flowers were really neat, though, and the "Valley Forge Bunnies" (and reworking the battle between the toy soldiers and the rats as a Revolutionary War battle in general) were very cute.

Exited the theater into the first of the falling snow. A street performer was playing "Let It Snow" on a sax. Very picturesque. The whole day made me miss living in a city center liek woah. If only I didn't work in the suburbs. . . .

Over all, very nice, and I'm feeling less icky, today. The fact that tomorrow is likely to be a nice vegetation day helps.

Run with me.

Take back the lonely night
As a new dawn breaks into white
Watch the sun climb the sky
Your eyes reflect the light
No cloud in sight
But when the day is through
Will I see you again

Keep your eyes on me
Please don't let go
As we run together
We fit so well
I can tell

Run where I run
Play what I play
Do what I do
But when this day's through
I hope I'll see you again

Starlight

  • Dec. 18th, 2009 at 11:35 AM
Walking at midnight
In the darkness, alone
Standing in the shadows
And I'm watching your glow

Standing in the red light
And I'm smiling at you
Dreaming of the starlight
Just waiting for you

I'll do anything to make you shine
Take me if you want me
I don't care, I don't mind

I want your starlight, make me shine
Touch me with your light
And I'll burn like a star
